Social Justice and a Good Time for All
Bring a little laughter into the lives of people from disadvantaged backgrounds, with free tickets to the show.
Circus Oz has always had a strong belief in social justice. Over the last 30 years, we've supported humanitarian aid programs, indigenous land rights and reconciliation, and underprivileged children to name a few. Most recently we have been helping asylum seekers and refugees living in detention and in the community.
While those who see the show are guaranteed 'A Good Time for All', there are many people living in our community who can't afford even a discounted ticket. So we run a program of providing free tickets to people from disadvantaged areas - indigenous communities, refuge centres, charities, hospitals, aid organisations, disabled and disadvantaged children, asylum seekers and refugees.
But we can't do it alone. Your donations allow us to extend a ticket to a person in need and all donations are fully tax deductible.
One of our most moving and meaningful experiences with this program has been to provide Circus Oz tickets to children and families of people who are living in detention or on Temporary Protection Visas in the community. These people desperately want to live in Australia and in most cases are almost without rights, including the right to work. As a result many of these families cannot afford to take their children on any kind of outing, increasing their sense of isolation. Often they tell us that the visit to our show is the first and only positive family experience they have had in Australia.
We strongly believe that one way to change the world is to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together to enjoy a live experience under one roof. The smiles, laughter and applause of these families as they see friendly Australians around them sharing the spectacle, humour and lyricism of the Circus Oz show is a direct antidote to the sense of rejection brought on by our current immigration policy.
If you believe, as we do, that tolerance, diversity and human kindness can make a difference please donate now.
Rehearsals and Training - keeping us great
The show doesn't put itself together. It takes hours of work every day for weeks before each season to develop new material, and to perfect the acts that make you gasp in amazement, or split your sides with laughter.
This development process requires dedicated and creative people, with the space, stimulation and specialised gear to experiment with their great ideas and fine-tune the performances over many months.
As one of Australia's few full-time ensembles, our elite acrobats are selected from all over the country, and represent a variety of cultural backgrounds. Making and maintaining the show is their full time job. To maintain that level of creativity, innovation, world-class skill and celebrated Australian larrikinism, we need resources.
You can be part of that culture by supporting our development with a fully tax deductible donation.
Touring the World
You can help take one of Australia's great icons to the international stage.
We really have been everywhere! And they want us back! Circus Oz tours overseas for up to six months of every year, and has visited 26 countries on five continents. In the next three years we want to start taking our own Big Top and putting it up at some of the most iconic sites in the world.
You can help us take our unique show to the rest of the world. All donations over two dollars are tax deductible.
