Fun Run is a joyful community spectacle that pushes one man to the limits of his endurance. The Arts Centre Melbourne, in association with Circus Oz and VicHealth present a remarkable free event that marries performance, sport and community.
The work of Melbourne-based company All the Queens Men, Fun Run is an homage to the Greek messenger Pheidippides who was sent to Athens to announce the Persian’s defeat in the battle of Marathon. Our fearless hero runs a grueling 42 km on a treadmill live on stage, supported by a booming soundtrack, hundreds of performers and participants drawn from a multitude of Melbourne communities, a silky-voiced MC and special guests.
Audience members are invited to participate by attending public workshops before the event to learn the dance moves for Flash Mobs that happen hourly throughout the performance.
Fun Run is the fourth project produced by Arts Centre Melbourne as part of the Betty Amsden Participation Program and is made possible by the vision and exceptional generosity of the late Miss Betty Amsden AO.
