Performing on stage has been a big part of Matts life since he was a kid.
He has worked professionally and toured all over the world for over 25 years as a circus acrobat, actor, musician, stuntman, circus teacher and director. He has performed with companies that include Circus Oz, Dislocate, Legs on the Wall, Arena Theatre company, Rock’n’Roll Circus, Circus Monoxide, Bizircus and Barry Humphries’ Eat, Pray, Laugh Farewell Tour.
Most recently, Matt was back with Circus Oz in the shows But Wait, There’s More, TWENTYSIXTEEN, a brief appearance in Model Citizens and Tutti with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
As well as teaching performance and coordinating many projects at the National Institute of Circus Arts, Matt has directed several student productions and taught circus all over place.
In 2005 Matt won the Melbourne Fringe Festival Best Circus Performance Award for his solo show Trade of the Trick.
Other Career Highlights include bungee jumping off the Sydney Opera House on New Years Eve 2000; being shot out of a canon over the heads of the audience in the New Victory Theatre in New York City and falling off an elephant dressed as Dame Edna Everage (that’s Matt as Edna, not the Elephant!)
